I drink this after breakfast every morning and it’s my favorite! Made this batch with some ginger from my house plant and turmeric from my neighbor’s garden:) if you can’t get fresh ginger/turmeric than powdered works great too! This recipe makes a warm spiced golden milk concentrate that can be added to your favorite milk.
1. If using fresh ginger and turmeric, peel them using a spoon.
2. Add all ingredients (fresh turmeric/ginger, 1 to 2 cups water as needed to blend, dates, cinnamon, nutmeg, black pepper, salt, and optional ingredients like ground cloves, cardamom, or coconut oil) to a blender and blend for a while until completely smooth. Remember this is a condensed version and will taste strong.
3. Taste and add more dates if needed for sweetness, or more water if ingredients aren’t blending well.
4. Pour the concentrate into an ice cube tray to freeze, or an airtight container to keep in the fridge. It will last 2-3 weeks in the fridge.
***If using powdered ginger and turmeric: Combine all ingredients in a bowl, using only 3/4 cup of water. No need to blend. To intensify flavors, you may simmer for 3-5 minutes over medium low heat. Store in an airtight container or freeze into ice cubes.
To serve: Add a scoop of paste or 1-2 frozen cubes of the golden milk concentrate to your favorite milk (hot or cold) and enjoy.
